kano Police Nab 82 Suspects in Crime Crackdown
The Kano State Police Command has arrested 82 suspects in connection with various crimes committed in the state from November 1 to November 14. The arrests are a result of a comprehensive crime-busting strategy implemented by the command.
The suspects include kidnappers, armed robbers, thugs, phone snatchers, and drug dealers. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the implementation of these strategies has yielded positive results, leading to the crackdown on criminal networks.
Targeted Operations Dismantle Criminal Networks
Kiyawa explained that the strategies have focused on curtailing remnants of thuggery (Daba) activities within Kano Metropolis, dismantling armed robbery syndicates along Jigawa-Kano and Bauchi-Kano borders, and foiling kidnapping incidents along Kaduna-Kano and Katsina-Kano borders.
These targeted operations have resulted in the arrest of a total of 82 suspects and the recovery of firearms, dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, and stolen properties. The recovered items include one AK-47 rifle, three locally made guns, 13 cutlasses, and 16 knives.
Additionally, the police seized three motorcycles, one tricycle, 50 sachets of diazepam tablets, 42 sachets of tramadol tablets, 24 parcels, 175 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be hemp, and 10 mobile phones.

Kiyawa emphasized that these achievements demonstrate the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order. The command will continue to strengthen its multifaceted strategies, including community policing, strategic communication, intelligence-led policing, and targeted clearance operations, to effectively dismantle criminal networks, especially along border local government areas.
The PPRO commended Governor Abba Yusuf for donating 78 patrol vehicles to the command, which will significantly enhance its operational capacity and response time, leading to improved service to the people of Kano State.
